PLASTICS IN OCEAN?
MYTH OR REALITY
Between 4.8 and 12.7 million tonnes of plastic end each year in the oceans.
REALITY:
In 2050, according to the estimate by the Ellen Macarthur Foundation, the oceans could contain more plastics than fish. In order to prevent these wastes from further polluting the sea and polluting the beaches, the Committee on the Environment adopted on 10 October the new rules dealing with the nine main single-use plastic products found on the European coasts. These, together with the abandoned fishing gear, account for 70% of marine litter.
PROBLEMS:
Plastics not only pollute the coasts, but also affect all marine fauna. The animals get entangled in them and confuse the smaller fragments with food, which can lead to their intoxication and kill their lives.
Humans, because of the food chain, also ingest this material, although the consequences for their health are not yet determined.
WHAT DO WE DO IN OCÉANNA
TO AVOID PLASTIC?
COMPOSTABLE SHIPMENT
For all our shipments, we use a compostable packaging.
BENEFITS:
- We avoid using plastics.
- The packaging used becomes beneficial nutrients for the soil.
- We reduce waste and environmental impact.
